Conducting

Murray discovered his love for conducting during grade 12 instrumental music, when a conducting unit was introduced. His natural ability and passion for the baton was quickly realized and he was invited to conduct the grade 11/12 class through Vince Gassi's Tsunami, at his final high school concert.

Murray furthered his study in conducting throughout his studies at Queen's University, and of course during his time at Memorial. He has had the pleasure to learn wind ensemble, orchestral, and choral conducting from great conductors and educators. These include Dr. Dylan Maddix, Bill Brennan, Marc David, Dr. Jakub Martinec, Dr. Susan Quinn, Dan Tremblay, Darrell Christie, Dr. Gillian McKay, Dr. Mark Hopkins, Hugh Johnston, and Maestro Alexander Shelley, to name a few.

Murray has been noted as an expressive and passionate conductor by students and teachers alike. He always loves working with young musicians and helping them realize their potential. He is available for conducting masterclasses One-on-one lessons.
