The Kawartha Youth Orchestra has a rich history of serving youth musicians in Peterborough County and Kawartha Lakes.. Currently, their orchestras program is led by Murray Lefebvre, who took over in 2024, and has been growing since then.

The Kawartha Youth Orchestra offers three levels of orchestra in that program at the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior levels. Murray conducts both the Intermediate and the Senior Orchestras, and works with, and is grateful for, Saskia Tomkins who conducts the Junior Orchestra.

The Kawartha Youth Orchestra offers many other programs including jazz, chamber music, group classes, and lessons. Its largest program is the Upbeat! program, headed by program manager Colin McMahon, which offers free music lessons, snacks, and social activities to elementary school children after school.
